Konstantina "Nadia" Gkritza

Biography

Professor of Civil and Agricultural and Biological Engineering – Purdue University
Director of Sustainable Transportation Systems Research Group (STSRG) – Purdue University
Campus Director - NSF ASPIRE Engineering Research Center

Dr. Gkritza earned her Ph.D. in Civil Engineering in 2006 at Purdue University. Her research primarily focuses on advancing the understanding of the triple bottom line (economic, environmental, and social) for sustainable transportation systems and developing empirical models and practical tools for use in transportation decision-making. Her recent work revolves around assessing the direct and indirect impacts of transportation innovations and technologies, such as transportation electrification, and connected and automated vehicles. Dr. Gkritza is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Transportation Engineering in the area of transportation planning, modeling, and economics, and a member of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Committees on Freight Transportation & Regulation, and Agriculture & Transportation. She also served as the co-Chair of the TRB Committee on Transportation and Economic Development (2014-2020). She is a recipient of the 2022 Frank M. Masters Transportation Engineering Award for outstanding contributions to research and education enhancing innovation in transportation planning and engineering.
