Biography
Assistant Research Scientist - University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute (UMTRI)
Rusheng Zhang, Ph.D. specializes in cooperative driving and AI-enabled roadside perception systems. He leads the development of MSight, a production-ready roadside perception and digital infrastructure platform deployed in real-world connected vehicle environments. Dr. Zhang has played a leading technical role in major USDOT initiatives, including the Smart Intersection Project (21 intersections in Ann Arbor) and the Ann Arbor Connected Environment (AACE). He also served as technical lead for the University of Michigan team in the USDOT Intersection Safety Challenge, where the team received a Tier 1 award among more than 120 participating teams.
