UMTRI to Expand the Ann Arbor Connected Vehicle Test Environment


In 2012, the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute received an award to start the Safety Pilot Model Deployment Program. This program outfitted over 2,800 participant vehicles with connected vehicle technology equipment. Vehicles equipped would send messages to each other along with infrastructure in the Ann Arbor area. UMTRI, along with the City of Ann Arbor are expanding the research program (now called The Ann Arbor Connected Vehicle Test Environment (AACVTE)) and will have over 3,000 vehicles equipped by the end of 2018. AACVTE is a major resource for CCAT, and the full story from Mlive can be read below:
